Architectus prepared a conceptual base design for the masterplanning of the Central to Eveleigh Rail Corridor on behalf of the NSW Government and City of Sydney. The animation was featured in the promotional video (seen above; 0:53-1:21) to advertise the potential development to local and foreign investors.

The design team investigated urban regeneration opportunities for government owned land within the rail corridor. The area extends for approximately 3km from the Goulburn Street carpark in the Sydney CBD to Macdonaldtown and Erskineville rail stations. It includes Central and Redfern stations, the Australian Technology Park, Eveleigh Rail Yards and the airspace above railway lines – in total approximately 80 hectares.

The Central to Eveleigh initiative has the potential to transform the southern end of Sydney’s CBD and make a significant contribution to meeting the future needs of Sydney residents and businesses.
