Hi, my name is Dena Hamed and welcome to my website.
My life as I know it…the name, Dena Hamed (also known as Dee). I was born in the United States (small town Columbia, Missouri) to migrant Egyptian parents. I spent the first two years of my life in the USA, the following two years in Cairo, Egypt and then migrated to Australia with my parents and two older brothers when I was just four years old. I have now moved back to the USA 25 years after leaving. My oldest clear memory would be of that plane trip coming to Australia. I remember it as if it were yesterday.
A long time has passed since I left the USA the first time and I have now moved on, grown up and stepped out into the real world.
I love design, any design. Industrial, graphic and architectural, you name it! As I left high school, the decision to choose my future profession became rather difficult. I wanted to do everything, but was that even possible? After much deliberation, I decided on architecture. I figured architecture does incorporate other aspects of design, not specifically just building design. I hold a Bachelors of Architecture (design) degree and Master of Architecture (design) degree from the University of Newcastle, Australia. I am a LEED Green Associate and am working towards California architectural registration.
I have particular architectural interests in;
- Building information modelling (BIM)
- Graphic Design
- Cultural, entertainment & sports projects
- Residential – both single and multiple dwellings
- Commercial & retail
- Sustainable design
- Laboratory and health care projects
- Military projects
I am currently located in Los Angeles as an Architectural Designer for Gensler.
